Celebrating the life of Specialist Felipe J. Garcia Villareal.

WHEREAS, United States Army Specialist Felipe J. Garcia Villareal, 26, of Fairfax County, sustained injuries in the line of duty in Iraq and was flown to Washington Hospital Center, where he died February 12, 2006; and

WHEREAS, Felipe Garcia Villareal was a member of the Navy ROTC program at Herndon High School and joined the United States Marines upon graduation; and

WHEREAS, after his tour of duty with the Marines, Felipe Garcia Villareal reentered civilian life, but out of a passion for the military and a sense of duty to his country he joined the United States Army; and

WHEREAS, Specialist Garcia Villareal was assigned to the 54th Engineer Battalion, 130th Engineer Brigade, Warner Barracks stationed in Bamberg, Germany; and

WHEREAS, a native of Bolivia, Specialist Garcia Villareal lived in Burke with his wife, who was by his side when he passed away; and

WHEREAS, Specialist Garcia Villareal's death is a reminder of the perils faced daily by the thousands of young Americans who serve in our armed forces overseas and whose devotion to duty places them in harm's way; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of a courageous and patriotic Virginian, Specialist Felipe J. Garcia Villareal; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Specialist Felipe J. Garcia Villareal as an expression of the high regard in which his memory is held by the members of the General Assembly and the citizens of Virginia.
