2006 SESSION
WHEREAS, the Vienna Buccaneers, a Vienna youth football team formed in August 2001, won the 2005 Washington Metropolitan Superbowl Championship in the 110-pound American Division held on December 3, 2005, at Wakefield High School in Arlington; and
WHEREAS, going into the Superbowl game, the undefeated and Fairfax County champion Vienna Buccaneers, comprised of players ages 12, 13, and 14, were victorious over the previously undefeated Prince Georges County team; and
WHEREAS, the Vienna Buccaneers completed a perfect 10-0 season with their final regular season win, 32-12, over the previously unbeaten Clinton Jets; and
WHEREAS, in five seasons, the Vienna Buccaneers have a 46-4 overall record and have had two Washington Metropolitan Superbowl victories, their first being in the 75-pound division; and
WHEREAS, the Champion Vienna Buccaneer players are Damien Ashley, Cody Canard, Jamie Cleer, Alex Callsen, Dylan Doty, Perry Granberry, T. J. Ehrsam, Zac Frederick, Greg Gadell, Garret Giles, Ray Howard, C. J. Kelliher, Wes Lincoln, Ryan McGuire, Ricky Neville, Eric Rolad, Sean Schnitzer, Terrence Smith, and Justin Stalcup; and
WHEREAS, coached by Larry Canard with the assistance of Chris Cowan, Dan Doty, Richard Finelli, Jeff Frederick, and Ray Gordon, the Vienna Buccaneers proudly represented Vienna and Fairfax County during their exciting 2005 season; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend and congratulate the Vienna Buccaneers football team on its outstanding 2005 Washington Metropolitan Superbowl win; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Larry Canard on behalf of the enthusiastic Vienna Buccaneers as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for their championship season.
