HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 323 Offered February 15, 2006 Commending the William Campbell High School football team. ---------- Patrons-- Byron; Senator: Hawkins ----------

WHEREAS, the 2005 William Campbell High School football team traveled to James Madison University in Harrisonburg to play in the state championship game, and the William Campbell Generals returned to Campbell County with a Virginia High School League Group A, Division 1 state football championship; and

WHEREAS, the 2005 Generals followed up on the success of the 2004 team, defeating the J. I. Burton High School Raiders, 18-0, to claim the state title; and

WHEREAS, the Generals relied on their stout defense and opportunistic offense to capture the second state football championship in school history; and

WHEREAS, the 2005 William Campbell Generals, who finished with a record of 10-3, defeated Buffalo Gap High School, 44-20, in the first round of the playoffs, then dominated Surry High School, 28-7, in the state semifinals; and

WHEREAS, the outstanding success of the William Campbell High School Generals is a tribute to the leadership of Head Coach Brad Bradley and his staff; the talent, hard work, and teamwork of the athletes; and the sustained support of the Campbell County community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend and congratulate the 2005 William Campbell High School Generals on their second Group A, Division 1 state championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Head Coach Brad Bradley in recognition of the outstanding performance of the 2005 William Campbell High School football team.
