WHEREAS, on May 1, 2005, Rose López-Keravuori of Arlington was crowned Mrs. Virginia-America for her many accomplishments and outstanding platform on education; and
WHEREAS, Rose López-Keravuori is an intelligence analyst at the Defense Intelligence Agency and also serves in military intelligence as a captain in the United States Army Reserve; and
WHEREAS, Rose López-Keravuori grew up in Los Angeles, California, and Limoges, France, and is the daughter of a Cuban émigré mother and a Mexican-American father, who stressed the importance of education; and
WHEREAS, Rose López-Keravuori earned a bachelor's degree in French, Spanish, and computer science engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point, was chosen as the representative to the Mexican Military Academy, and was one of two cadets to attend a semester at the French Military Academy of Saint Cyr; and
WHEREAS, after graduation, Rose López-Keravuori was stationed in Germany as an active duty military intelligence officer for six years; she deployed to Hungary to provide intelligence in the 1999 NATO air campaign against Serbia; deployed to Kosovo for peacekeeping operations in 2000; and deployed to Kosovo and Macedonia for intelligence operations after September 11, 2001; and
WHEREAS, during her time in the military, Rose López-Keravuori completed a master's degree in international relations and economics from the University of Oklahoma and a master's degree in business administration from Cameron University; and
WHEREAS, Rose López-Keravuori's discipline, dedication to duty, and an outstanding platform promoting the importance of education earned her the prestigious Mrs. Virginia-America 2005 crown, and during her reign, she will be an extraordinary representative for Arlington and the Commonwealth; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Rose López-Keravuori on her distinguished Mrs. Virginia-America 2005 title, her numerous achievements, as well as her commitment to excellence in education; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Rose López-Keravuori as an expression of the congratulations and best wishes of the General Assembly.
