Commending James L. Jenkins.

WHEREAS, James L. Jenkins of Henrico County, a respected citizen and community benefactor, is recognized for his outstanding public service to the citizens of the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, James Jenkins received an undergraduate degree from the School of Commerce at the University of Virginia and a law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law; and

WHEREAS, committed to improving the quality of life for all of the residents of Henrico County, James Jenkins served as a member of the Henrico County Planning Commission, president of the Pinedale Farms Civic Association, chairman of the Henrico County Mental Health Advisory Board, and chairman of the Richmond Metropolitan Authority; and

WHEREAS, James Jenkins has also demonstrated his commitment to the safety of Virginians by serving as chairman of the Virginia Parole Board, as a member of the Virginia Criminal Justice Services Board and the Virginia Board of Correctional Education, and as Virginia’s compact administrator for the Interstate Transfer of Parolees and Probationers; and

WHEREAS, dedicated to the health and well-being of his fellow citizens, James Jenkins served as chairman of the St. Luke’s Hospital Board and president of Bloomfield Home for Children; and

WHEREAS, James Jenkins is a devoted member and trustee of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, as well as a founder and former president of the Bull and Bear Club in Richmond; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend James L. Jenkins for his years of dedication and outstanding service to the citizens of the Commonwealth; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to James L. Jenkins as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration and gratitude for his extraordinary achievements.
