2006 SESSION
WHEREAS, the Epiphany Preschool, founded as Precious Blood Preschool, is recognized for its 25 years of dedication to the early childhood education of the children of Culpeper; and
WHEREAS, in September 1981, Precious Blood Catholic Church opened the Precious Blood Preschool in Culpeper; and
WHEREAS, the Reverend Leo Zonneveld, Joan Hitt, Barbara Drake, Joan Beattie, and Jeanette Miller were instrumental in the founding of the preschool; and
WHEREAS, since its origin, Precious Blood Preschool has had outstanding directors, including Barbara Drake from 1983 to 1986, Barbara Terry from 1986 to 1996, and Julie Klumpp from 1996 to 1997; and
WHEREAS, by 1997 Precious Blood Preschool, with Barbara Terry as principal, evolved into the Epiphany Preschool and become affiliated with the Epiphany Catholic School, an elementary school supported by the parishes of Our Lady of the Blue Ridge in Madison, St. Isidore in Orange, St. Peter's in Washington, Virginia, and Precious Blood in Culpeper; and
WHEREAS, Epiphany Preschool’s philosophy of learning “interprets the goal of early childhood education as being the development of the whole child, intellectually, physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually . . . in a world that is increasingly fast-paced and competitive; Epiphany Preschool provides a place for every child to be a child and explore in the course of a child-oriented day”; and
WHEREAS, the dedication of an exemplary faculty and staff, past and present; the longtime participation and commitment of families; the support of parishes in four Virginia counties; and the precious gift of every child that has graduated from the preschool program make Epiphany Preschool’s 25th anniversary a celebration of fond remembrances, great thanksgiving and joy; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Epiphany Preschool on the occasion of its 25th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Principal Barbara Terry and the Epiphany Preschool as an expression of the General Assembly's gratitude for its devotion to the children and families of Culpeper.
