HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 19
On the death of Frank Waters Rogers, Jr.

WHEREAS, Frank Waters "Bo" Rogers, Jr., of the City of Roanoke, an admired and respected attorney for over 50 years, died on July 11, 2005; and

WHEREAS, Bo Rogers attended Episcopal High School in Alexandria, received his undergraduate degree from Princeton University, and graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law and the Georgetown University Law Center; and

WHEREAS, after receiving his law degree, Bo Rogers served his country with the Judge Advocate General's Corps in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1958 as a captain; and

WHEREAS, returning to Roanoke in 1960, Bo Rogers joined Woods Rogers, PLC, practicing law with his father and brother and became senior member of the law firm's tax group; and

WHEREAS, Bo Rogers was selected for inclusion in both The Best Lawyers in America
and Virginia Business Magazine's Legal Elite; and

WHEREAS, with great compassion and generosity, Bo Rogers contributed his time and immense talents serving as president of the Roanoke Bar Association, on the Board of Trustees of Episcopal High School, the YMCA, and the Roanoke Symphony Society; as vice president of the Board of Trustees of the Virginia Historical Society; and as a member of the Board of Trustees of Hollins University for 14 years; and

WHEREAS, throughout a life of significant personal and professional achievement, Bo Rogers served his family and his fellow citizens of the City of Roanoke with dedication and commitment; and

WHEREAS, because of his loving nature and his enormous zest and appreciation for life, Bo Rogers will be fondly remembered by his family and his numerous friends and colleagues; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the passing of an exceptional Virginia gentleman, Frank Waters Rogers, Jr.; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Frank Waters Rogers, Jr., as an expression of the esteem in which his memory is held by the members of the General Assembly.
