066688366WHEREAS, De'vounce White of Chesapeake died in a tragic automobile accident caused by a drunk driver in El Paso, Texas, on December 10, 2005; and
WHEREAS, De'vounce "Devon" White was born on September 27, 1984, on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, graduated from Deep Creek High School in Chesapeake in 2003, and since 2004, served his country in the United States Army as a specialist with the 31st Armored Brigade; and
WHEREAS, Devon White, an outstanding football player at Deep Creek High School, decided during his senior year to run the 800-meters; he changed his diet, ran on the weekends, and spent extra hours on the track in order to help the team win the state championship; and
WHEREAS, Devon White had planned to build a computer for his little brother for Christmas and visit his family during a month-long break from classes and computer work; and
WHEREAS, Devon White loved video games and lifting weights, playing baseball, football, or basketball in the backyard with his father and brother, and entertaining his younger siblings; and
WHEREAS, Devon White will be remembered for his kind and generous nature and missed by his parents, his two sisters and three brothers, and his numerous friends and admirers; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly note with great sorrow the untimely loss of a fine Virginian, De'vounce White; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of De'vounce White as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
