067251556Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 29.1-303.4 as follows:
§ 29.1-303.4. Free hunting and fishing licenses for certain military personnel.
Every person who (i) was a resident of Virginia at the time that he entered the armed services and is a resident at the time he applies for the licenses and (ii) subsequent to September 11, 2001, has served as an active duty member in the United States Armed Forces, United States Armed Forces Reserves, or the Virginia National Guard during military operations against terrorism, on a peacekeeping mission, or in any armed conflict, shall be entitled to obtain the state resident hunting license authorized by subdivision 2 of § 29.1-303, the state resident fishing license authorized by subdivision A 2 of § 29.1-310, and the special license for hunting bear, deer and turkey authorized by subsection A of § 29.1-305, at no fee. The exemption from having to pay a fee shall extend for a single term of the license as provided for under § 29.1-328. The Department shall provide such licenses at no charge upon submission by the person to the Department of the order documenting his assignment.
