Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding in Chapter 1 of Title 46.1 a section numbered 46.2-116 as follows:

§ 46.2-116.  Proof of liability insurance required as prerequisite to purchase of motorcycle.

No person shall sell nor shall any person purchase any motorcycle in the Commonwealth unless and until the purchaser presents to the seller, at or prior to the time of sale, documentary proof that the purchaser has obtained a policy of liability insurance covering such motorcycle in the amounts set forth in § 46.2-472.
