060012556Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 29.1-303.4 as follows:
§ 29.1-303.4. Free hunting and fishing licenses for certain military personnel.
A. Every person who was a resident of Virginia at the time that he entered the armed services and who, subsequent to September 11, 2001, has served as an active duty member in the United States Armed Forces, United States Armed Forces Reserves, or the Virginia National Guard during military operations against terrorism, on a peacekeeping mission, or in any armed conflict, shall be entitled to obtain any hunting or fishing license required under this title at no fee. The exemption from having to pay a fee shall extend for a single term of the license as provided for under § 29.1-328. The Department shall provide such licenses at no charge upon submission by the person to the Department of the order documenting his assignment.
B. The exemption from having to pay a fee shall not apply to special lifetime licenses obtained pursuant to §§ 29.1-302.1, 29.1-302.2, and 29.1-302.4, which shall be purchased at the fee established by those sections.
