2006 SESSION
(HB1178)GOVERNOR'S VETO
Pursuant to Article V, Section 6, of the Constitution of Virginia, I veto House Bill 1178, which would eliminate the requirement that a member of the minority party be appointed to any Committee on Standards, consisting of three members, established by either the House or Senate.
No matter the party in power, maintaining high ethical standards is a bipartisan goal. Depriving a committee charged with ethical oversight of its bipartisan representation would subvert the whole purpose of its existence.
