SUMMARY AS PASSED SENATE:

Medical assistance; employer information.  Requires the Department of Medical Assistance Services to collect from the Department of Social Services any available information regarding full-or part-time employment of any applicant for health care benefits under public health programs, such as Medicaid, the Family Access to Medical Insurance Security Plan, and the State/Local Hospitalization Program.  The Department of Medical Assistance Services will prepare and submit a summary to the Governor and the General assembly of statistical data on the full- and part-time employment of applicants for public health programs and the costs of the beneficiaries' health care to Virginia, which will classify Virginia employers by categories, as determined by the Director.  No personal identifiers will be included in the summary for the beneficiaries or the employers.

SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:

Medical assistance; employer information.  Requires the Department of Medical Assistance Services to require any applicant for health care benefits under public health programs, including the state plan for medical assistance services, the State/Local Hospitalization Plan, and the Family Access to Medical Insurance Security Plan, to identify the employer of the proposed beneficiary of the health care benefit and to report employers who employ 25 or more public health program beneficiaries to the Governor and General Assembly. The report shall include each employer's name, location, the total number of its employees and dependents who are enrolled in each health care program, and the total cost to the Commonwealth of providing health care benefits for the employees and enrolled dependents of each named employer.
