SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:

Constitutional amendment (first resolution); marriage.  Provides that marriage consists exclusively of the union of a man and woman as husband and wife. The amendment also states that the Commonwealth shall not recognize or create other unions with the characteristics of marriage and that its provisions apply to political subdivisions of the Commonwealth. This resolution is incorporated into HJR 586.
