SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Speedy trial and double jeopardy; motions and appeals. Requires defense pretrial suppression motions and objections on speedy trial or double jeopardy grounds to be filed in writing at least seven days before trial. The bill also provides that the Commonwealth may file a pre-trial appeal on a dismissal of a criminal case on speedy trial or double jeopardy grounds. Currently such appeal must be on the ground that a statute upon which the dismissal was based is unconstitutional.
