SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Defibrillators in public schools. Requires school boards to ensure that each high school in the division be equipped with an automated external defibrillator (AED). In addition, the measure requires schools to ensure that personnel have certification or training in the operation of an automated external defibrillator at specific staffing levels.
The measure also sets forth school board immunity for ordinary negligence in acts or omissions resulting from the operation, testing, or maintenance of this device. Current law provides civil immunity for individuals operating an AED, absent "gross negligence or willful or wanton misconduct."
