Introduced by: Albert C. Eisenberg | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles | history
SUMMARY AS PASSED HOUSE:
Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation; unlicensed activity. Provides that any person convicted of a violation of certain enumerated acts may also be ordered by the court to pay restitution.
SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Virginia Consumer Protection Act; home repair transactions. Expands the scope of consumer transactions that are subject to the Consumer Protection Act to include home repair transactions, which are transactions in which a person falsely represents that he is a licensed architect, professional engineer, or contractor and undertakes to construct, remove, repair, or improve an owner-occupied dwelling. The measure also makes it a violation of the Act if a person fails to complete the work under a home repair transaction within the time period provided in the agreement with the dwelling's owner or fails to complete the work in a manner that complies with either the Uniform Statewide Building Code or with the terms of the agreement.
