SUMMARY AS PASSED: (all summaries)
Information on nosocomial infections. Requires acute care hospitals to report information about nosocomial infections to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Healthcare Safety Network. Nosocomial infections are acquired in a hospital or other health care setting. The hospitals must release their infection data to the Board of Health. The Board's regulations will determine the hospitals that will be required to report, and the specific infections and patient populations to be included in the data. Upon request, hospital infection rate data may be released to the public by the Board. The bill takes effect July 1, 2008.
