058518232WHEREAS, United States Marine Corps Corporal Bradley Thomas Arms, a native of Charlottesville, died in the performance of his duty on November 19, 2004, while serving his country in Fallujah, Iraq; and
WHEREAS, Bradley Arms was born in Charlottesville on February 13, 1984, and graduated from the Covenant School in 2002, where he played both lacrosse and soccer; and
WHEREAS, Bradley Arms worshipped at Trinity Presbyterian Church, where he participated in service projects and Bible class; and
WHEREAS, Bradley Arms studied at the University of Georgia; and
WHEREAS, Bradley Arms enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and completed basic training at Parris Island, South Carolina, with a meritorious promotion; and
WHEREAS, Bradley Arms, finishing first in his platoon, later completed training as a combat engineer at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, and received a second meritorious promotion, becoming a lance corporal; and
WHEREAS, Corporal Bradley Arms was deployed to Iraq in August of 2004 with the 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division; and
WHEREAS, Bradley Arms is remembered by those who knew him for his enthusiasm, leadership, strong character, and care for others; and
WHEREAS, with his devotion to liberty and with his love of country and family, Corporal Bradley Arms established an exemplary record of service to America, and his death reminds us of the great sacrifices our youth make to protect freedom at home and spread it abroad; and
WHEREAS, February 13, 2005, would have been Corporal Bradley Arms' 21st birthday; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sorrow the loss of a courageous and patriotic American, Corporal Bradley Thomas Arms; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Corporal Bradley Thomas Arms as an expression of the high regard in which his memory is held by the members of the General Assembly and the citizens of Virginia.
