Celebrating the life of Jacqueline Heppert Wade.

WHEREAS, Jacqueline Heppert Wade, beloved school bus driver and benevolent matriarch to numerous Hanover children, died November 26, 2004; and

WHEREAS, Jacqueline Wade grew up in Church Hill, graduated from John Marshall High School, and married her high school sweetheart in 1951, current Hanover County Supervisor Elton Jefferson Wade, Sr.; and

WHEREAS, over 39 very happy years, Jacqueline Wade and her husband helped to raise 23 foster children and youngsters of family friends, in addition to their own three children; and

WHEREAS, rarely did Jacqueline Wade, a gentle, patient caregiver, and remarkably proficient cook, have fewer than a dozen youngsters of various ages at her dinner table; and

WHEREAS, when the couple moved to a farm in Hanover County in 1960, Jacqueline Wade found great joy in driving a school bus for the public school system, which allowed her to be at home and available to her children when they returned from school; and

WHEREAS, in addition to family responsibilities, Jacqueline Wade often helped her husband in the two cafeterias he managed, located at the Reynolds Metals complex in the City of Richmond and the AMF headquarters in Mechanicsville; and

WHEREAS, Jacqueline Wade was the epitome of strength and courage during her six-year fight with lymphoma; even during periods of debilitating medical treatment, she continued to drive her precious students to and from school every day; and

WHEREAS, Jacqueline Wade, warmly remembered as a remarkable mother, wife, and strong neighborhood supporter, exemplified genuine community commitment and strong family values; and

WHEREAS, a respected resident of Hanover County, Jacqueline Wade will be missed by her husband, family, and countless friends and admirers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby mourn the passing of a fine and gracious daughter of Virginia, Jacqueline Heppert Wade; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Jacqueline Heppert Wade as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for her memory and gentle spirit.
