WHEREAS, Bronwyn Hughes "Broni" Lambelet, the chairman of the Fauquier County School Board, died on December 25, 2004; and
WHEREAS, a native of Washington, D.C., Broni Lambelet graduated from Lord Fairfax Community College and Mary Baldwin College; and
WHEREAS, a resident of the Fauquier County community of Marshall, Broni Lambelet was an active volunteer with local 4-H programs and at various Fauquier County schools; and
WHEREAS, before her election to the school board, Broni Lambelet chaired the Special Education Advisory Committee for seven years and sat on an elementary school redistricting panel; and
WHEREAS, in 1999 Broni Lambelet ran for the Fauquier County School Board from the Marshall District, was elected without opposition, and was reelected, again without opposition in 2003; and
WHEREAS, in 2000 the Fauquier County School Board took the unprecedented step of electing a first-term member, Broni Lambelet, as chairman; and
WHEREAS, Broni Lambelet was respected by her colleagues, by other local officials, and by the community at large for her effective, analytical, and organized leadership of the school board and for her successful efforts to improve relations between the school board and the board of supervisors; and
WHEREAS, during Broni Lambelet's term on the school board, Fauquier County saw the opening of two new schools--James G. Brumfield Elementary School and Auburn Middle School--and the planning for a third high school to open in 2007; and
WHEREAS, throughout her life, Broni Lambelet served the citizens and schoolchildren of Fauquier County with dedication, leadership, and wisdom; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with sadness the untimely passing of an exceptional Virginian, Bronwyn Hughes Lambelet; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Bronwyn Hughes Lambelet as an expression of the respect in which her memory is held by the members of the General Assembly.
