On the death of John F. Vickery.

WHEREAS, John F. Vickery, a New Kent County magistrate and a former Richmond City police officer, died on May 11, 2004; and

WHEREAS, a resident of Charles City County, John Vickery retired from the Richmond Police Department in 1999 with the rank of sergeant after 25 years of service; and

WHEREAS, following two years as a deputy with the New Kent County Sheriff's Office, John Vickery joined the New Kent County Magistrate's Office two years ago; and

WHEREAS, after assisting a Virginia State Police Officer with a drunken-driving arrest, John Vickery was killed in an accident on his way home; and

WHEREAS, throughout his professional life, John Vickery established an exemplary record of service to his community and the Commonwealth; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly note with sadness the loss of a dedicated public servant, John F. Vickery; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of John F. Vickery as an expression of the General Assembly's sorrow at his passing and great respect for his memory.
