HOUSE BILL NO. 2677 AMENDMENT IN THE NATURE OF A SUBSTITUTE (Proposed by the House Committee on Transportation on February 3, 2005) (Patron Prior to Substitute--Delegate Ebbin) A BILL to require the Virginia Department of Transportation to establish regional pedestrian and bicycle advisory committees.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1.  § 1.That the Virginia Department of Transportation shall proceed expeditiously with the development and implementation of a program to establish regional pedestrian and bicycle advisory committees. The Department shall establish a committee in each of the Commonwealth's construction districts and shall appoint citizen members and other stakeholders to the committees. The committees shall hold regular meetings in order to seek public input for methods of improving government programs related to walking and bicycling. Citizen members of each regional committee shall be represented on a statewide pedestrian and bicycle advisory committee, which shall also hold regular meetings.
