2005 SESSION
056312268Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. § 1. Whenever any law-enforcement vehicle is permanently taken out of service by the Department of State Police or any local law-enforcement agency in the Commonwealth, such vehicle shall be placed at a conspicuous location within a highway median in order to deter violations of motor vehicle laws at that location. Such vehicles shall not be placed in locations where they constitute a safety hazard, and shall be rotated from one location to another as needed to maintain their deterrent effect. The provisions of this act shall not apply to unmarked law-enforcement vehicles that cannot, because of their lack of emblems and other markings, be readily identified as law-enforcement vehicles.
