Any enterprise zone that expired on December 31, 2004, that meets at least one of the criteria set forth in subsection B of § 59.1-274 of the Code of Virginia as such subsection was in effect on June 30, 2005, shall continue in effect as an enterprise zone until such time, on or after July 1, 2005, that the Governor first designates an enterprise zone. Any jurisdiction in which such enterprise zone is located shall be afforded an opportunity to apply for any initial enterprise zone designation made by the Governor on or after July 1, 2005, and any other designation of enterprise zones made by the Governor. If any enterprise zone that expired on December 31, 2004, is not included in any initial designation of an enterprise zone made by the Governor subsequent to June 30, 2005, such enterprise zone shall terminate on the December 31 immediately following the Governor's initial designation.
