SUMMARY AS PASSED SENATE: (all summaries)

Interagency Coordinating Council on Housing for the Disabled. Abolishes the Interagency Coordinating Council on Housing for the Disabled. The Council was created in 1986 to provide and promote cross-secretariat interagency leadership for comprehensive planning and coordinated implementation of proposals to increase and maximize use of existing low-income housing for the disabled and to develop a state policy on housing for the disabled for submission to the Governor. The Council has been inactive for approximately 10 years. Other entities, including the Disability Commission and the Department of Housing and Community Development, are currently addressing issues faced by the disabled in obtaining housing. This bill is a recommendation of the Joint Subcommittee to Study the Operations, Practices, Duties, and Funding of the Commonwealth's Agencies, Boards, Commissions, Councils, and Other Governmental Entities pursuant to HJR 159 (2002). This bill is identical to HB 206.
