SUMMARY AS PASSED SENATE:
Kinship care. Defines the practice of kinship care as the full-time care, nurturing, and protection of children by relatives. The bill requires a local board of social services to seek out kinship care options to keep children out of foster care and as a placement option for those children in foster care, if it is in the child's best interest.

Kinship care. Defines the practice of kinship care as the full-time care, nurturing, and protection of children by relatives, members of their tribes or clans, stepparents, or any adult who has a familial bond with a child. The bill requires a local board of social services to consider kinship care as an alternative to a foster care placement if it is in the child's best interest.
