SUMMARY AS PASSED SENATE: (all summaries)
Special Advisor for Workforce Development. Creates the position of Special Advisor for Workforce Development, which reports directly to the Governor. The Special Advisor will have policy and program responsibilities for several federal and state workforce training programs and resources administered within several different state agencies. The Special Advisor responsibilities include (i) serving as liaison for workforce training among state and local government, the Virginia Workforce Council, local workforce investment boards, and the business community; (ii) reviewing fund allocation; (iii) helping the Virginia Workforce Council implement policies and procedures for the Virginia Workforce System; (iv) monitoring federal legislation and policy in order to maximize the effective use of program funds; and (v) reporting annually on the progress in statewide coordination of workforce training resources.
