SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:

State Library Board; qualifications for professional librarians. Replaces the terms "librarian" and "professional librarian" with the term "library director." The bill also provides that a library director shall be a graduate of (i) any accredited library school, (ii) a school of library science accredited by the American Library Association, or (iii) a master's degree program of an accredited college or university with the total education program and a minimum of five years library work experience in a position requiring a knowledge of books and library technique. Currently, work experience is not included and educational qualifications are limited to either graduation from any accredited library school or a school of library science accredited by the American Library Association.
