SUMMARY AS PASSED:

Insurance; dental plan organizations. Establishes a new regulatory system specifically for dental plan organizations, pursuant to which companies that provide a dental plan are required to be licensed. The measure also establishes required and optional dental benefit contract provisions, required provisions for plan dentist contracts, and requirements relating to the filing of premium rates and subscription fees.

SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:

Insurance; dental plan organizations. Creates a new chapter titled Dental Plan Organizations and adds such organizations to several definitions relating to insurance in Title 38.2. The bill provides that dental plan organizations must obtain a license from the State Corporation Commission (SCC). The bill sets out (i) the licensing requirements; (ii) steps that must be taken if there is an impairment of the minimum capital and surplus of a dental plan organization; (iii) required and optional dental benefit contract provisions; (iv) grace period requirements; (v) required provisions for plan dentist contracts; and (vi) the requirements relating to the filing of premium rates and subscription fees with the SCC.
