SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Study; Safe Routes to School; report. Requests the Board of Education to examine the feasibility and appropriateness of implementing a Safe Routes to School Program in the Commonwealth. In conducting its study, the Board shall examine (i) Safe Routes to School programs in other states; (ii) the respective roles of state and local education, transportation, law enforcement, and other entities; (iii) current initiatives in the Commonwealth addressing student safety in walking or cycling to school; (iv) relevant fiscal and safety concerns; and (v) such other issues as it deems necessary.
