HB 782 Indians; Council on; changes membership, responsibility of Secretary of Natural Resources.

SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:

Council on Indians. Moves the Council on Indians from the Health and Human Services Secretariat to the Natural Resources Secretariat. The bill also (i) changes the membership of the Council by removing the Secretary of Health and Human Services, who served as an ex officio voting member, (ii) increases the number of at-large members from the Indian population residing in the Commonwealth from two to three, and requires those at-large members to provide verification as an enrolled member of a tribe recognized by either the Commonwealth or, another state, or territory.
