SUMMARY AS PASSED HOUSE:
Venue; civil actions. Provides that Category B venue includes counties or cities in which the defendant regularly conducts substantial business activity. Under current law, Category B venue includes counties or cities in which the defendant regularly conducts affairs or business activity.
SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Venue; personal injury or wrongful death. Provides that any civil action for tortious injury is governed by Category A venue, and that venue shall lie in the city or county where the cause of action arose or where any defendant resides. The venue requirements for the Virginia Tort Claims Act are unaffected.
