On the death of Frank B. Shaw.

WHEREAS, Frank B. Shaw of Norfolk, a veteran of World War II and the past president of the Ocean View Lions Club, died on January 2, 2004; and

WHEREAS, a native and lifelong resident of the Ocean View area of Norfolk, Frank Shaw served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II, after which he attended Belmont Abbey College in North Carolina; and

WHEREAS, Frank Shaw worked as a dealer representative for Exxon Oil Company and later as a sales agent for Goodman Segar Hogan Realty and retired as an executive with the Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority; and

WHEREAS, Frank Shaw was past president of the Ocean View Lions Club and a former member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 3548; and

WHEREAS, Frank Shaw was a lifelong and faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, serving on various advisory parish councils and serving as everything from altar boy to lector and Eucharistic minister to usher; and

WHEREAS, Frank Shaw was an avid woodworker and craft maker, generously duplicating and sharing his handiwork with anyone who admired any of his many creations; and

WHEREAS, when Frank Shaw needed quadruple bypass surgery, he was comforted by a support group called Mended Hearts, which he later joined to actively lend his efforts to support individuals facing similar heart illnesses; and

WHEREAS, Frank Shaw was also a HAM radio operator, a hobby that also allowed him to assist in emergency disaster relief efforts and local events requiring radio communications, such as parades and athletic events; and

WHEREAS, Frank Shaw will be sorely missed by his family, the parishioners of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, and by his countless friends and admirers in the Norfolk community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of a fine Virginian, Frank B. Shaw; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Frank B. Shaw as an expression of the respect in which his memory is held by the members of the General Assembly.
