2004 SESSION
WHEREAS, during the summer of 2003, Cox Communications hosted Movies Under the Moon, a series of free movies shown at George Mason University's Robinson football field; and
WHEREAS, the nine movies, recent box office hits, family favorites, and popular classics, proved to be popular, drawing more than 75,000 Fairfax County residents; and
WHEREAS, the Movies Under the Moon series raised $23,500 from the proceeds derived from on-site food vendors for Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children and Special Love/Camp Fantastic, a support group for families dealing with cancer; and
WHEREAS, the Movies Under the Moon series proved an invaluable cooperative effort among Cox Communications, the restaurant vendors, and the citizens of Fairfax County who supported the event; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Cox Communications for its generous and innovative program to provide entertainment to the citizens of Fairfax County while assisting Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children and Special Love/Camp Fantastic; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Gary McCollum, vice president and general manager of Cox Communications, as an expression of the admiration and gratitude of the General Assembly.
