AMENDMENT IN THE NATURE OF A SUBSTITUTE

A BILL to amend the Code of Virginia by adding in Article 15 of Chapter 1 of Title 33.1 a section numbered 33.1-223.2:9, relating to establishment of a statewide comprehensive volunteer roadside management program within the Virginia Department of Transportation authorizing individuals, communities, and local governments to provide landscape materials, services, funding, and appropriate signing.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding in Article 15 of Chapter 1 of Title 33.1 a section numbered 33.1-223.2:9 as follows:

§ 33.1-223.2:9. Comprehensive roadside management program.

The Department shall promulgate regulations for a comprehensive roadside management program. Such program shall include, but not be limited to, opportunities for participation by individuals, communities, and local governments and shall address items to include safety, landscape materials, services, funding, recognition, and appropriate signing.
