HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 77
Commending Alicia Rasin.

WHEREAS, Alicia Rasin, a dedicated and outspoken Richmond community activist, directs her generosity and kindness to Richmonders most in need of assistance; and

WHEREAS, Alicia Rasin has in recent years been among the first and most visible responders when violent crime strikes in Richmond, praying with families of victims, assisting with funeral planning, and helping families deal with their grief; and

WHEREAS, Alicia Rasin often acts as liaison between the families of homicide victims and the media, providing the latter with needed information without adding to the families' burden; and

WHEREAS, Alicia Rasin is the founder of Citizens Against Crime and has not been shy in her crusade to reduce Richmond's ruinous homicide rate; and

WHEREAS, for 15 years Alicia Rasin has solicited donations and used her own funds to buy holiday meals–as many as 40 at a time–for needy Richmond families and homicide victims' families; and

WHEREAS, Alicia Rasin's selfless and often exhausting efforts to help others have won her the admiration and respect of the Richmond community and the gratitude of the hundreds of families she has helped through tragic times; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Alicia Rasin for her noble, sustained, and ongoing efforts to assist the victims of violent crime and to reduce the rate of such crime in the City of Richmond; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Alicia Rasin as an expression of the admiration and gratitude of the General Assembly.
