2004 SESSION
WHEREAS, established in 1928, the Alexandria Bar Association has been serving the Alexandria community for 75 years; and
WHEREAS, the membership of the Alexandria Bar Association is comprised mainly of small firms and solo practitioners, with members located in Alexandria and throughout the greater Washington, D.C., metropolitan area; and
WHEREAS, the Foundation of the Alexandria Bar Association is an integral part of the bar's structure, working with local organizations to provide scholarships to high school seniors and providing grants to local organizations to help them serve the community more effectively; and
WHEREAS, in 1985-86, twice in 1989, in 1994, and in 1997-98, the Alexandria Bar Association has been honored by the Virginia State Bar for its excellence in serving the bench, the bar, and the people of Virginia; and
WHEREAS, the Alexandria Bar Association has 18 active committees, many of them oriented toward serving the community; and
WHEREAS, for 75 years, the members of the Alexandria Bar Association have served their profession and the Alexandria community with great dedication and distinction; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Alexandria Bar Association on the occasion of its 75th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Alexandria Bar Association as an expression of the General Assembly's appreciation for its exceptional service to the citizens of Alexandria and the Commonwealth.
