HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 448
Commending Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology.

WHEREAS, since 1997, the Virginia High School League has sponsored the state championship Scholastic Bowl competition; and

WHEREAS, the goal of the competition is for students to demonstrate a wide range of knowledge in the areas of science, mathematics, English, history, and geography; and

WHEREAS, at the 2004 Group AAA state championship competition, held on February 28th at The College of William and Mary, the team from Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Fairfax County emerged victorious; and

WHEREAS, the nine Thomas Jefferson High School Scholastic Bowl competitors were drawn from the school's "It's Academic" club, which includes about 50 students; and

WHEREAS, coached by Nancy Kreloff, the Thomas Jefferson High School Scholastic Bowl team was led by "It's Academic" club president Alex Levy and captains Sam Lederer and Steve Young; and

WHEREAS, also contributing to the title-winning effort were Jacob Oppenheim, Mike Wright, Dan Wright, Mike Sollosi, Nick Stroup, and Will Sullivan; and

WHEREAS, the outstanding performance of the 2004 Scholastic Bowl team further enhances the already glittering academic reputation of Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology Scholastic Bowl team on its Group AAA state championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology Scholastic Bowl team as an expression of the General Assembly's congratulations and best wishes for continued success.
