HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 397 Offered February 18, 2004 Commending Senior Firefighter Patrick S. McLain. ---------- Patrons-- Rapp, Barlow and Hamilton; Senator: Norment ----------

WHEREAS, on March 20, 2004, the Woman's Club of Williamsburg will sponsor the Police Officer and Firefighter of the Year Awards; and

WHEREAS, among the honorees is Senior Firefighter Patrick S. McLain of the James City County Fire Department; and

WHEREAS, a member of the department since 1979, Firefighter McLain brings a wealth of experience to his job as assigned driver of a pumper/aerial combination company; and

WHEREAS, Firefighter McLain provides instruction to staff assigned to him and serves as a senior instructor and mentor; and

WHEREAS, Firefighter McLain, who holds a degree in fire science from Thomas Nelson Community College, was awarded the James City County Fire Department Chiefs Award in March 2003; and

WHEREAS, an exemplary firefighter and a dedicated community servant, Firefighter McLain has served the citizens of James City County with diligence, dedication, and courage for nearly 25 years; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Senior Firefighter Patrick S. McLain for his outstanding service to the James City County Fire Department; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Senior Firefighter Patrick S. McLain as an expression of the congratulations and best wishes of the General Assembly.
