HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 392 Offered February 18, 2004 On the death of Lawrence E. Adkins. ---------- Patrons-- Armstrong, Hurt and Marshall, D.W.; Senator: Reynolds ----------

WHEREAS, Lawrence E. "Sam" Adkins of Collinsville, a home builder in the Martinsville-Henry County area for 50 years, died on September 28, 2003; and

WHEREAS, a native of Patrick County, Sam Adkins grew up in Fieldale and was a 45-year member, trustee, and deacon of Fort Trial Christian Church; and

WHEREAS, Sam Adkins was the owner and operator of Sam Adkins Home Builders for 50 years; and

WHEREAS, Sam Adkins was a former member of the Henry County Board of Zoning Appeals; and

WHEREAS, Sam Adkins will be missed by his large and loving family, by the parishioners of Fort Trial Christian Church, and by his numerous friends and admirers in the Henry County community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with sadness the passing of Lawrence E. Adkins; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Lawrence E. Adkins as an expression of the respect in which his memory is held by the members of the General Assembly.
