WHEREAS, Darryl J. Pirok, DDS, has served Virginia with distinction for 27 years through his ceaseless efforts on behalf of the Commonwealth's poorest citizens; and

WHEREAS, for Dr. Pirok, service is part of his character and compassion part of his heart, evident in his long hours and years of dedicated service not only to the people of Gloucester but across Virginia; and

WHEREAS, in 2000 the Virginia Dental Health Foundation created the first Mission of Mercy (MOM) project to provide dental services to Virginia citizens most in need but without the means to receive care; and

WHEREAS, the MOM projects have provided more than $3 million worth of free dental care to more than 8,000 citizens of the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Pirok has been an integral part of the MOM projects since they began four years ago; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Pirok has provided critically needed oral surgery care as an important component of the MOM projects; and

WHEREAS, in addition to his work with the MOM projects, Dr. Pirok has provided many hours of free dental services to the Northern Neck Free Health Clinic in Kilmarnock; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Pirok also shares his skills and serves as a mentor, without compensation, to the dental students enrolled at the Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Darryl J. Pirok, DDS, for his selfless and ongoing service to the people of Virginia; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Darryl J. Pirok, DDS, as an expression of the admiration and appreciation of the members of the General Assembly.
