047967232WHEREAS, Rodney L. Davis worked as a deputy for the Greene County Sheriff's Office for more than two years; and
WHEREAS, Rodney L. Davis had recently been promoted to investigative sergeant in recognition of his skills, experience, and dedication; and
WHEREAS, amiable, enthusiastic, and professional, Sergeant Rodney L. Davis was exceptionally popular among his colleagues in law enforcement and was well-known and respected in Greene County; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Rodney L. Davis was killed in the line of duty while apprehending a dangerous felon on August 26, 2003; and
WHEREAS, the ultimate sacrifice made by Sergeant Rodney L. Davis is a reminder of the great dangers faced by law-enforcement officers in the daily performance of their duties; and
WHEREAS, Rodney Davis was a loving and supportive husband to his wife, Kim; and
WHEREAS, Rodney Davis is survived by his sons Logan and Wade and Rodney Davis III, who was born after his death; and
WHEREAS, during his too-short life, Sergeant Rodney L. Davis established an exemplary record of service to his family, his community, and the Commonwealth; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with sadness the untimely loss of a courageous and dedicated public servant, Sergeant Rodney L. Davis; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Sergeant Rodney L. Davis as an expression of the General Assembly's profound sorrow on his passing and great respect for his memory.
