044418408WHEREAS, Frederick E. Doggett, Sr., of Mechanicsville, who served Hanover County with great dedication in numerous capacities, died on May 27, 2003; and
WHEREAS, a lifelong resident of Hanover County, Fred Doggett served in the United States Navy during World War II; and
WHEREAS, Fred Doggett, who attended Randolph-Macon College and was a graduate of Richmond Business College, retired as systems analyst for the American Tobacco Company, following 32 years of meritorious service; and
WHEREAS, Fred Doggett served on the Hanover Planning Commission for five years and on the Hanover County Board of Supervisors for 10 years, including a term as board chairman in 1986; and
WHEREAS, a former director of Mechanicsville Little League, Fred Doggett was a loyal member of the Hanover Ruritan Club, with a 42-year record of perfect attendance, and was a 1968 recipient of the Hanover Ruritan Club Community Service Award; and
WHEREAS, Fred Doggett was a member of the Hanover County Economic Development Commission, the Mechanicsville Businessmen's Association, and American Legion Post 175 and was a member of Westhill and Mechanicsville Baptist Churches for more than 40 years, serving on the Board of Deacons; and
WHEREAS, throughout a life of significant achievement, Fred Doggett served his family, his country, and his fellow citizens with dedication and commitment; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with sadness the passing of an exceptional Virginian, Frederick E. Doggett, Sr.; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Frederick E. Doggett, Sr., as an expression of the respect in which his memory is held by the members of the General Assembly.
