Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. § 1. The Department of Corrections shall ensure that each state correctional facility containing space for visitation of prisoners is family friendly and includes appropriate, low-cost decorations, games, furniture and other such items to humanize visits, especially for children, and to encourage family bonding. The cost for creating such an environment in such visitors' areas shall not exceed $3,000 per prison. Nothing contained herein shall be construed to require the Department to create such visitors' areas where none currently exist or to allow the Department to discontinue use of such visitors' area as a visitors' area.
