An Act to amend and reenact § 26-7.2 of the Code of Virginia, relating to mailing of notice, etc., by clerk.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That § 26-7.2 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows:

§ 26-7.2. Clerk to mail notice, process or rule to person served.

Whenever any such notice, process or rule shall be served on the clerk of a court it shall be his duty to mail the same forthwith by certified or registered mail, postage prepaid, to the person thus served, to his last known address as shown by the court papers, the cost thereof to be advanced paid in advance by the person desiring the service. In lieu of using certified or registered mail, the clerk of court may also use overnight delivery, with the cost thereof to be paid in advance by the person desiring service.
