2004 SESSION
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 46.2-832 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows:
§ 46.2-832. Damaging or removing certain signs.
Any person who intentionally defaces, damages, knocks down, or removes any legally posted highway sign or a street address sign posted to assist in address identification in connection with enhanced 9-1-1 service as defined in § 56-484.12 shall be guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor.
For the purposes of this section "highway sign" includes but is not limited to an electrically powered or electronic device installed or erected by the Virginia Department of Transportation or a local governmental agency to prevent collisions, control traffic, or provide guidance or warning to operators of motor vehicles.
