2004 SESSION
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 14.01 of Chapter 39 of the Acts of Assembly of 1932 is amended and reenacted as follows:
§ 14.01. Appointment and Term of School Trustees.
The Common Council of the city shall on July 1, 1972 2004, and continuing
thereafter, appoint nine all school trustees, one from each election precinct
and the remainder from the city at large, whose term of office shall be three
years. The first appointments hereunder shall be three for one year, three for
two years and three for three years, beginning July 1, 1972, and thereafter all
appointments shall be for three years for a term of four years. In the event
any vacancy occurs in the school trustees, the Council shall fill the vacancy for the unexpired term. The
school trustees shall be a continuing body and no measure pending before such body shall abate or be
discontinued by reason of the change in terms of the school trustees as
provided herein.
