SUMMARY AS PASSED:

Protective orders when warrant issued for perpetrator. Includes in the provisions that allow for the issuance of protective orders following incidents of stalking, provisions that allow for the issuance of protective orders following incidents of acts of violence resulting in serious bodily injury to a person. In order to obtain a protective order under these provisions an arrest warrant must have been issued for the alleged perpetrator.

Includes in the provisions that allow for the issuance of protective orders following incidents of stalking, provisions that allow for the issuance of protective orders following incidents of assault, acts of violence resulting in injury to person or property, trespass by computer and harassment by telephone. In order to obtain a protective order under these provisions an arrest warrant must have been issued for the alleged perpetrator.

SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:

Protective orders; dating violence. Creates a provision for issuing protective orders to persons in a dating relationship when the petitioner has been the victim of dating violence. A dating relationship is defined as a romantic relationship between individuals that exists or has existed for a reasonably continuous period of time but does not include a casual acquaintanceship or ordinary fraternization in a business or social context.
