SUMMARY AS PASSED:
Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation; Polygraph Examiners. Provides for the Director of the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation to authorize the use by licensed polygraph examiners of instruments other than polygraphs that record physiological changes pertinent to the determination of truthfulness or the verification of the truth of statements. This bill is identical to HB 2812.
SUMMARY AS PASSED SENATE:
Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation; Polygraph Examiners. Authorizes law-enforcement officers to use instruments or devices to detect deception or to verify truth of statements if operated by a law-enforcement officer certified by the manufacturer to operate such instruments or devices. "Law-enforcement officer" is defined as any full-time employee of a police department or sheriff's office that is a part of or administered by the Commonwealth or any political subdivision thereof, and who is responsible for the prevention and detection of crime and the enforcement of the penal, traffic or highway laws of the Commonwealth.

Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation; Polygraph Examiners. Authorizes law-enforcement officers to use computer voice stress analyzers to detect the truth of statements. "Law-enforcement officer" is defined as any full-time employee of a police department or sheriff's office that is a part of or administered by the Commonwealth or any political subdivision thereof, and who is responsible for the prevention and detection of crime and the enforcement of the penal, traffic or highway laws of the Commonwealth.
